Downward "Google Trends" in Science - Is it accurate?

Google Trends Looking Down for Science News

Goofing around on Google Trends, is always fun, and obviously we have a strong interest in science literacy and sharing hopefully a bigger picture of the world. SO! Could it be that my small U.S. city of Portland, Oregon is only half the volume of the term "science" in general. I was also surprised to see that science as a search term has steadily declined since 2004. See the live results

Do you think this has to do with people getting content from discipline specific sites directly and not using Google? I can say this, Portland, is no slouch as a search term having greater volume then "New York City". And "Science" has twice the volume of "Playstation" over the long haul. So there is hope! Maybe it comes down to developing fun science gaming ideas that spread the word like here at Physics Games.

Have a great labor day weekend and let us know how much time you spend on Google Trends
